Meet Joanne Brings Thunder

Big Ideas, Real Impact.

A multi-faceted artis, award-winning architect and educator, Joanne blends traditional Shoshone artistry with bold contemporary design. Her work is a testament to her matriarchal lineage and the resilience of Indiginous women. A direct descendent of Chief Washakie and trained by her grandmother, a 1996 NEA National Heritage Fellow, her art is a powerful art of Rematriation.

Cultivating Knowledge for the Next Generation.

Joanne brings Indigenous history and culture to life through approved and developed curricula for K-6 students in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Her hands on workshops in ledger art, beadwork, tee pee or lodge construction provide an invaluable Indigenous perspective.
